Engagement with governments
At the H2Global Foundation, we engage with governments interested in using market-based instruments such as the H2Global mechanism to support the emergence of markets for clean hydrogen and other low-emissions fuels.
Ongoing partnerships
We have successfully partnered with Germany, and more recently with the Netherlands, Canada and Australia which decided to use the H2Global mechanism to promote renewable hydrogen imports. Jointly, they allocated €5.86bn to Hintco-run tenders as of January 2025. The European Commission has also integrated the H2Global mechanism into its European Hydrogen Bank, aiming to support European Union (EU) imports and meet its target of 20 million tons of renewable hydrogen by 2030. Our collaborations also extend among others to Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, India, Japan, Norway, Oman, and the United States.
H2Global's Center of Excellence
H2Global’s Center of Excellence (CoE) facilitates the emergence of markets for clean hydrogen and other low-emission fuels through the development and dissemination of market-based tools that can be adopted by governments worldwide. We provide guidance to public institutions on how to use the H2Global mechanism and other tools to leverage concessional financing efficiently and effectively.
Working with numerous countries globally has allowed us to build a robust network that fosters dialogue and connections between nations facing similar challenges, allowing those interested to combine efforts for improved results.
As the sole foundation with a subsidiary—Hintco—which acts as a real-life market simulator, we at the H2Global Foundation are able to extract lessons and good practices relevant to those interested in supporting nascent markets.
