Our small, dedicated research team with diverse educational backgrounds is looking for valuable support from an intern for 8 weeks during the summer of 2025, preferably in June and July.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The H2Global Internship Program is a chance for degree-seeking students to engage in career exploration and development and learn new skills. The mission of the internship program is to provide pre-professional, meaningful and practical work experience related to the student’s field of study or career interest.

TASKS AND ACTIVITIES YOU WILL SUPPORT US WITH

Interns are embedded within the day-to-day work at H2Global Foundation’s research team. Interns will contribute to the research on different factors affecting the ramp-up of clean hydrogen projects in the Global South, in particular in Latin America. The intern will:

1. Draw insights from H2Global’s research program H2Global meets Africa and assess how it could be applied to the Latin American context .
2. Identify and acquire access to data sources for a bottom-up country clustering analysis.
3. Communicate with Latin American stakeholders and other relevant stakeholders to test initial analysis .
4. Draft and finalize a blog-style contribution for our website, incorporating insights from your analyses and feedback from the review process.
5. Assist with the preparation and organization of a three-day in-person workshop for H2Global’s working groups in Hamburg.
6. Assist in the incorporation of the feedback gathered in the workshop in the working group reports.
7. Cross-support other activities of the research team.

CORE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Enrolled in a master’s degree program in energy and environmental studies, economics, political science, social sciences, or a comparable program.
• A forward-thinking, diligent approach to work and a passion for excellency.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of clean hydrogen and its derivatives as part of the energy transition would be a plus.
• Fluent in English and Spanish. Knowledge of Portuguese would be a plus.
• Work or field research experience in Latin America would be a plus.
• Individuals of any background are encouraged to apply.

OUR OFFER

In line with the Paris Agreement, countries around the world have set themselves ambitious climate goals. These require significant changes in all sectors of the economy. The transition towards a CO2-neutral future, will require among others enhanced energy efficiency, the ramp-up of renewable energy, electrification whenever possible, and the broad adoption of low emission technologies such as clean hydrogen and its derivatives. H2Global was created to accelerate the emergence of markets for clean hydrogen and other zero and low emission technologies globally through market-based instruments.

An international non-profit, H2Global Foundation accelerates the emergence of clean hydrogen markets and other low-emission fuels worldwide by empowering governments to actively shape and support the ramp-up of the international clean hydrogen market. This is achieved through tenders that use the innovative H2Global mechanism, currently implemented by Hintco, a wholly owned subsidiary of the H2Global Foundation. Hintco tenders are tailored to meet specific objectives, such as promoting clean energy technology or decarbonizing specific sectors. The result of Hintco’s pilot auction includes transparency on prices, securing production and delivery of clean fuels and legal certainty for projects to take the all-important final investment decision (FID). The impact and lessons learned from pilot auctions and research on clean fuels is shared globally with industry, governments and wider stakeholders.
