Research

An important part of creating markets for clean hydrogen and other low-emission technologies is to ensure that decision makers in government and industry have sufficient information and knowledge to make informed decisions. In a nascent market, such intelligence may not yet be available or public. Thus, the H2Global Foundation is committed to conducting research on key issues pertaining to clean hydrogen and other low-emission technologies. To this end, we conduct research projects, actively engage with internationally renowned research institutions and practitioners, and comment on the latest developments in the clean hydrogen economy.

Research is key to H2Global Foundation’s mission. We have set up a publicly funded research program that aims to develop and share new knowledge on key issues affecting clean hydrogen deployment, and on creating new hydrogen-related opportunities in Africa, in collaboration with institutions such as the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology (IEE), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the African Development Bank, and the East-Bavarian Technical University of Applied Sciences (OTH). As part of this work, we are actively engaging with our donors—representing 71+ private entities from around the world covering the whole hydrogen value chain—to collect insights on key barriers affecting clean hydrogen sector deployment.
